Guy Davis: Bright Lights big city

Master singer, actor, songwriter, storyteller blues and harmonica player Guy Davis comes from a distinguished New York stage family; his parents are Ruby Dee and the late Ossie Davis. Drawn to the blues music of his grandparents’ generation, Guy picked up the banjo and harmonica at age 8. Besides a busy international music career, he’s acted in his own musical plays and on daytime TV in “One Life to Live.” In The Rhythm and the Blues, Guy plays one of his musical heroes, most likely the creator of the harmonica rack, Jimmy Reed, in all his alcoholic and epileptic glory.
